Call Center Agents and the HIV

Health Officials recently released a study about Call Center Agents being more prone to acquiring HIV. Everyone knows that call center agents have different lifestyles. They sleep during daytime and works at night. The drawback in working in a call center is that you have to bear with the pressures from the callers who are mostly from the States. The only consolation they get is having a much higher salary than the rest of the Philippine workforce.

The different lifestyle and the environment plus the peer pressure are the factors that the researchers identified as the reason why call center agents are engaged in promiscuous sex. The highest risk the study says are the unprotected sex between the same sex. Study also says that most of these youngsters are not into relationship. They just do it for the heck and fun of it.

I would also like to add that the social networking sites and mobile phones made it easier for younger people to hook up. I am not really against the premarital sex or sex in any form just as long as it is protected sex. Our government (past and present) failed big time in educating our youth on protected and safe sex because of the hypocrites in the Catholic Church hierarchy. Alam ninyo naman siguro ang ibig kong sabihin. Every time the government proposes something about reproductive health, the Catholic Church would just oppose it. Kaya to avoid na lang mga rally rally sa EDSA, the government would just bow down to the pressures of these hypocritical priests, bishops and nuns.

Our youth should also know better than settle for an unprotected sexual intercourse. Pero mahirap naman talaga if you’re in heat at kabataan mo pa. We’ve gone through this stage at nakalimutan na ang lahat.. pati ang kanilang mga pangalan dahil sa kaligayahan.

So how do we stop the spread of HIV infection? I say, proper education with the help of all sectors in our society not just the Health Ministry. Parents have also bigger roles to play. Pero knowing the Filipino culture, talking about sex is not just awkward but bastos!

We are in the midst of the battle to comabt syndrome and not the cause. HIV is just one colossal problem our country faces due to its complacent approach on combating over-population. You're right to conclude that our governments past and present have been subjected to the bullying by the RCC and consequently the citizens get the whipping.

RH bill sad to say is now put in limbo, its passing into law rendered improbable due to our leaders fear of the RCC.

This time restraint and self-control are still the key to combat HIV. This govt will not be a factor anymore as to how anyone goes about with his life.
