Jamby the nuisance candidate

Last week, Jamby Madrigal declared her intention to run for the Presidency. Minutes after her declaration, the Nationalista party of Senator Manuel Villar issued this statement:

“The Nacionalista Party welcomes the entry of Senator Madrigal into the presidential derby. She will continue the tradition of independent presidential aspirants who dream of becoming president,” said NP spokesman, former Cavite Rep. Gilbert Remulla.
“She now joins the ranks of (nuisance candidates) Eddie Gil and Atty. Ely Pamatong in making Philippine elections a colorful democratic practice. Her declaration is also a vindication for Senator Villar,” he said.

The statement was sarcastic to the extent that Jamby Madrigal was compared to Eddie Gil and Ely Pamatong. In fairness to Jamby Madrigal, she’s from a very wealthy and influential family. She also won a senatorial slate and that doesn’t make her a nuisance candidate. But Jamby’s declaration that she’s running for the highest post of the land only confirmed the suspicions of the many that the C5 scam was politically motivated. Reports also suggest that Jamby knows that she’s not going to win the presidential election. She’s just aiming to be in the senatorial slate of the UNO. Her declaration of running for the presidency is just a political move.

Paalam, Tita Cory

In the Filipino culture, it’s not just rude but a mortal sin to say bad things to the dead. With death, all debts are cancelled, and all misunderstandings are erased. We only choose to remember the good deeds and good memories of the dead. In Tita Cory’s death, we ignored her weaknesses as a leader and only remembered her legacy. The world renowned ‘people power’ is the greatest legacy of Tita Cory. Her death only cemented her influence in the Filipino psyche.

The most significant event that happened in Tita Cory’s wake is the visit of Imee and her brother Ferdinand ‘Bong Bong’ Marcos. I was so touched when I learned that they went out of their way to visit Tita Cory’s wake.

I don’t blame people when they tried to bash Willie Revillame when he tried to stop the live streaming of Tita Cory’s wake in his daily game show Wowowee. The Filipino people felt that Tita Cory was disrespected. Willie should not do that because people are still sensitive. You don’t do that kind of stuff to people who are still mourning the loss of their mother. When I say mother, I am referring to Tita Cory who is the symbolic mother of the Filipino nation.

I felt Kris Aquino’s pain and anguish over the death of her mother. Of all the Aquino children, Kris is Tita Cory’s pain in the neck. She must’ve realized her mistakes and the problems that she put her mother through. She’s her mother’s greatest disappointment.

Rain poured over Metro Manila while the body of the deposed president was carried through a private cemetery in Manila. The heaven is sad and it felt what the Filipino nation felt. Goodbye Tita Cory at Maraming Salamat.
